Mikulas,
Thanks so much for researching! I really, really appreciate your efforts.
I saw 2 dermatologists and both wanted to put me on antibiotics and steroid creams. I had been thru this once many years before and was very dubious of trying that again. Instead, I simply gave up using all brand/store-bought body products, including fluoride (a toxic industrial waste that happens to harden teeth). I'm talking shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouth wash, moisturizing creams, exfoliants, body wash, facial cleansers... everything! Sad thing is that since I was a teenager I have been religious with my skin care regime...probably because the very products I was using to clear my acne (which slowly became severe dermatitis) was actually the culprit! It's been just over 2 yrs since I stopped using the products and slowly, in waves, my face is steadily clearer and clearer. A myriad of other symptoms have cleared up as well. My mother was born with eczema all over and is to this day unable to use store bought body products at all. I personally have only rarely used "cosmetics" (make up, etc.) my whole life. I'm gonna look into the link. Thanks, again!
Minty Mary,
What you wrote leads me to wonder if you may have become, like I did, toxic due to the products you're using? Check out the ingredients on every product you're using. I found this site quite useful in determining if a product is worth condisering to use: www.cosmeticdatabase.com. I totally relate to what you mean by a "wobbly" week. I have them too. I've seen a correlation between "wobblyness" and changes in the dermatitis. Have you? BTW, I now drink 1 or 2 tbs of RAW apple cider vinegar in water (it actually tastes good!) every other day or so because it was recommended by a friend that it may help. I internet searched about it and was surprised at how many things it's good for. The brand I use is "Bragg's." Perioral dermatitis gets worse before it gets better. This was very true for me after I stopped using cosmetic products 2 yrs ago AND also when I drank ACV in water every day for 10 days. To me that means it aided in clearing it up. I hope it is gone for good now, but only time will tell. What I use on my body now can be found in my kitchen. It's kinda fun. I feel like I'm reviving wisdom my grand mother might have known.
I have wondered if the meds I've been on over the yrs for ET may have caused the dermatitis, but the fact that stopping chemical-laden products made it change so much for the better, I think I may just be very sensitive to chemicals.
I wish you luck with your meds and hope you feel better soon!
