Hi All, I wonder if you have had your blood work show high BUN or Creatinine? This is showing a kidney problem and it is not something the doctors routinely check for, I had been getting blood work regularly and the doctor would say your BUN and Creatinine is a little high but never did even offer a reason or as if it may be important. To him it was not in his field so he did not get concerned. He only was treating me for ET.
When you have kidney failure as I have you also have very high Uric Acid associated with gout and kidney stones. So far I do not have either.
My kidneys are failing probably from the high amounts of Aleeve along with Asprin and Advel I was taking in 2003 to keep working. I needed a hip replacement and was hurting very much.
Good news! Today I got a call from Vanderbilt and am officialy on the kidney transplant list !!! I've been on the list at UAB but that list is like nearly 3,000 and years before I could get near the top. I'm now 70 but I have not even started dialysis because I'm in such good shape other wise. ET has no side effects on me except surgery can't be done on me when it is higher the 600 and mine right now is in 493 as of 8/15/07. I'm on Anagrelide 1MG X 4 a day. Can't take asprin at all any more because of my stomach ulcers in the past. My only problem is fatige. I stay tired too much of the time now but can and do exercise and keep moving. Have 2 volunteer jobs that I enjoy. I can't hold a daily job any more because I do have some down time so no one would pay for a some time worker. Even a good one. I've worked ever since I was 12 years old and really need the prod to make me stay well.
Sorry guys I didn't mean to write a book here but Hope I helped some one some how.
